Boston, Massachusetts, USA
The 2015 Boston accelerator was a five-day “Investment Preparedness” Lab hosted at Impact Hub Boston. It was designed to prepare impact-focused businesses in Boston with the tools necessary to take on capital (investment, debt, convertible notes, and grants) and scale their ventures.
Attending ventures included:
- VOTO, a mobile phone notification and survey platform that removes the barriers to insightful mobile communication between citizens worldwide and the organizations that serve them.
- Ubuntu Capital, a digital platform that helps individuals and small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in developing countries document their economic activity and build their professional reputations.
- Emzingo, a leadership development design firm that helps great organizations develop great leaders.
Takeaway: The program was a balance of workshops, coworking, practice, and networking. But that’s just what we did, and in the end that doesn’t really convey the experience. Entrepreneurship can be a lonely road. The Boston Lab was a reminder that we are all in this together, that we have each other. In the end, there is nothing more valuable than that.
“The speakers and workshops were top notch. The culture of the event was most productive. The logistics were flawless. I was hesitant at first about going, but I now realize these 5 days have been some of the most productive in a long time.”
