Our Selection Process

Round 1: Applications

APPLICATIONS OPEN SEPTEMBER 26th & CLOSE NOVEMBER 10th, 2011All interested applicants must submit a completed application by November 10th, 2011. This written application will ask you to provide us basic information on who you are, on your venture, and on your team. Additionally you will need to respond to 20 short-answer questions. These questions are targeted, focused, and designed to be valuable to you in terms of fleshing your business model, competitive analysis, market strategy and more. In short, it should be a fun and enlightening process. Make sure that before you apply, you check out our eligibility requirements and our suggestions for becoming a competitive applicant.

Round 2: Interviews

INTERVIEWS WILL TAKE PLACE December 8 – 17th, 2011Out of all of the applications, we’ll select up to 100 for interviews who stand out as top entrepreneurs and who meet our selection criteria. All applicants will be notified if they advance to the interview round by December 6, 2011. We’ll then schedule a 20-minute phone or Skype interview with each advancing applicant to better get to know the applicant and their team, and to ask a number of critical questions. The interviews will be direct, succinct, and targeted; we won’t be asking more than 5 questions.

Round 3: The Finalist Marketplace

THE ULTIMATE TESTAMENT OF YOUR ENTREPRENEURIAL METTLE – OPENS JANUARY 11th, 2012Of the candidates chosen for an interview, we will select up to 50 entrepreneurs as Unreasonable Finalists. The Marketplace is our final and most challenging round of selection and our most rigorous test of entrepreneurial ability. The cost of attending the Unreasonable Institute is $10,000, but we do not allow our applicants, or their teams, to pay it. Instead, we give our Finalists 50 days to raise the $10,000 in small increments on the Finalist Marketplace. The first 25 Finalists to do so will be deemed Unreasonable Fellows and attend our 2012 Institute. Read more here about how the Finalist Marketplace works!
